Travel Creator & Social Media Manager at Freewyld
About Freewyld:
Freewyld is a boutique hospitality brand built around one core idea:
Step into Wyld Mode.
We design and operate beautiful cabins in nature-first destinations, starting with our flagship 4-cabin village in Idyllwild, California. Guests come to Freewyld to disconnect from screens and reconnect with nature, themselves, and the people they love. We’re small, scrappy, and growing. We care about design, experience, and story as much as occupancy and RevPAR. If you love cabins, mountain towns, and content that makes people close their laptops and book a trip, you’ll fit in here.
Who We’re Looking For:
We’re hiring a Social Media Manager to own all organic social for Freewyld Cabins.
You’ll be the person who:
- Turns our cabins, trails, campfires, and quiet mornings in Idyllwild into thumb-stopping content
- Grows a community of people who want to get out of town and into Wyld Mode
- Builds and runs our creator & giveaway collaborations with aligned travel influencers
You’re part content creator, part community builder, part producer. You understand trends, but you’re not chasing every dance—your goal is building a brand that makes people actually book.
This is a long-term position with significant growth opportunities for high performers who want to develop deep expertise in social media and content marketing.
Key Responsibilities:
Content Creation & Publishing (Instagram-First, TikTok-Second)
- Own Freewyld’s Instagram presence (primary platform) and TikTok (secondary).
- Create short-form, story-driven content that:
- Shows the cabins, Idyllwild, and the Wyld Mode lifestyle
- Makes people feel something, not just scroll past
- Drives curiosity and clicks to our site
- Plan and publish a consistent content cadence (Reels, carousels, stories, TikToks).
- Edit vertical video using tools like CapCut, in-app editors, or similar.
- Write scroll-stopping hooks and captions that fit the brand voice (calm, grounded, inviting—not cringe).
On-Site Content Production in Idyllwild
- Visit the cabins regularly (we’ll align on frequency) to:
- Capture fresh photo + video content
- Film POV stays, day-in-the-life, packing, arrival, campfire, hike style content
- Shoot seasonal moments (snow, fall leaves, summer evenings, etc.)
- Occasionally appear on camera yourself as the “guide” or storyteller (vibes: modern, outdoorsy, genuine).
- Direct friends/family/plus-ones as “guests” in scenes when needed.
Community & Inbox Management
- Respond to comments and DMs on Freewyld social accounts in a way that feels:
- Warm, helpful, on-brand
- Not robotic or scripted
- Escalate booking / customer service questions to the internal team when needed.
- Keep the community feeling like a real place people belong, not just an ad feed.
Creator Collabs, UGC & Giveaways
- Own our creator and giveaway pipeline end-to-end:
- Identify aligned travel / lifestyle / outdoors creators (especially SoCal-based)
- Reach out, pitch collaborations, and coordinate hosted stays or content trades
- Run giveaway campaigns (we already have a structure and SOP you can follow/improve)
- Make sure we get usable, on-brand content out of each collaboration
- Build and maintain a small but mighty “creator bench” we can tap into regularly.
Strategy, Trends & Reporting
- Stay plugged into social trends in:
- Travel & hospitality
- Cabin / tiny home / nature / “being present” content
- Bring proactive ideas: series concepts, hooks, new angles on Wyld Mode.
- Track and report simple, meaningful metrics, such as:
- Reach & views
- Engagement (likes, comments, saves, shares)
- Follower growth
- Clicks to the website from social
- Use what’s working to double down and cut what’s not.
Who We’re Looking For
We are looking for an A-player passionate about social media and storytelling. The ideal candidate:
Non-negotiables:
- You live in Southern California and can drive to Idyllwild regularly (this is not a fully remote, from-another-country role).
- You have proven experience growing or managing social accounts (ideally in travel, lifestyle, hospitality, cabins, outdoors, or similar).
- You are very comfortable with short-form video: planning, filming, editing, and publishing.
- You’re willing to be on camera sometimes and can speak like a normal human, not a robot.
- You are chronically online enough to know what’s trending—but you also actually like going outside.
- Your written English is strong. You can write clear, natural captions without help.
Nice-to-haves:
- Experience working with boutique hospitality, STRs, or boutique hotels
- Past collabs with travel brands, cabin stays, or outdoor experiences
- Familiarity with social scheduling/analytics tools (GoHighLevel, Meta tools, etc.)
- Some light photography skills (framing, natural light, basic editing)
Personality & Working Style:
- You like small teams, fast feedback, and clear expectations.
- You’re a self-starter. You don’t need hand-holding to plan a shoot day or a posting schedule.
- You think in stories, not just posts. You know how to set context, build a feeling, and close with a call to action.
- You actually care about the idea of Wyld Mode—disconnecting from screens and reconnecting with real life.
Reach out to us today, and let’s grow together.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Salary: $1,500-$2,500/month (based on experience and results).
- Remote part-time position with flexible work hours
- Opportunities for career growth within Freewyld.
- Part-time, contract position
To apply, please email the following to [email protected]:
- Links to 3–5 social accounts or posts you’ve created or managed (personal or client)
- One paragraph on how you’d grow Freewyld’s Instagram (@stayfreewyld) over the next 6 months
- A Face-to-Camera Video Introduction – 1-2 minutes where you:
- Introduce yourself (name, location, background).
- Explain why you’re the best fit for this role.
- Share your experience in growing a social media following and website traffic.
Applications without a video will not be considered.
